INTRODUCTION
The Smart Kalasatama project was launched in autumn 2013 with the aim of making Kalasatama a model district for smart urban development, a Smart City district, with an aim to gain an extra hour of free time every day for its residents.
Model district for smart urban development – one more hour a day
The Smart Kalasatama project was launched in autumn 2013 with the aim of making Kalasatama a model district for smart urban development, a Smart City district, with an aim to gain an extra hour of free time every day for its residents.
Smart Kalasatama invites companies engaged in developing new urban services and innovations to join the development project and to bring new business in the area. The real-time data generated in the area, the community of developers and various piloting projects are all available to companies for their development work.
The developed solutions may relate to, for example, smart grids, apartment-specific electrical systems, solutions reducing unnecessary mobility, virtual work places or enhancing the community spirit by, e.g., utilising vacant public premises.
All the residents, companies and City bodies in the Kalasatama area participate in the development work and are the end users of the created services.
If you have an idea that you want to present to us, please contact our Smart Kalasatama contact person. Smart Kalasatama can help you in the development and coordination of your development project. You can also develop your project independently and only utilise the Kalasatama district as your test environment.
By spring 2017, already 110 companies have utilised the Smart Kalasatama platform in their development projects. In addition, a total of 800 Kalasatama residents have participated in these projects.
