Hiedanranta

From an old mill site to an innovative urban district

Provider
City of Tampere

INTRODUCTION

The intention is to develop the 100-hectare Hiedanranta area, located four kilometres away from the Tampere city centre, into an innovative, smart and sustainable district.
Hiedanranta will be used as a platform for testing new ways to engage companies, organisations and private citizens in the development of the area.

Target groups

This is the new age of urban planning! We invite all companies interested in digital solutions, sustainability, circular economy and food production to participate in the development work. Renewable energy, smart grid, nutrient recycling and biorefining solutions of the future are being developed in Hiedanranta now!

User groups

The Hiedanranta area will be developed in cooperation with companies, research institutions, citizens and organisations. In the future, this district of 25,000 residents will have around 10,000 jobs.

How to get involved

The new local master plan for the area will be completed in 2017–2018. Now is the time to contribute your development and innovation ideas! Please contact the project director Reijo Väliharju.
